ive got an EV1005 exam tonight but i also have so much packing to do before leaving tomorrow morning so im not really sure how thats guna work out but its fine. its guna be so sad saying final goodbyes to everyone!! silver lining is that i get to be in brisbane for a couple of days where ill get to see nina mossy g and elissa which will be a laugh. then its back off too koh tao for a month! cannot wait to get back out there!!! miss the hell out of the bull sharks, the sangsom, bans, motorbike crashes, everything accept probably not food poisoning. its guna be an interesting trip considering i have 700 aud to last me a month including all my transport lol!

its back.. lol
Ok, so its actually been almost 4 months since i wrote here, but i though i would again!
Australia was alright, its great weather, met some incredible people, but in the end i decided it would be best to come back to the uk to study. near the begining of my stay here i got a job as a dive instructor on magnetic island, but that was short lived because i burst my ear drum at mma training and its literally only just healed (i only got back in the water a few days ago but it was nice, saw 2 carpet sharks), so i basically didnt work the whole time i was here which i guess was nice, but also ment i was poor. i then managed to dislocate my ankle warming up for another training session.. like a retard.. so i havnt been running for a long time because i still cant, but i can still train which is all good. its coming up to finals time out here which is alright, its weird because as a group of friends we only have a 2 weeks left together so thats guna be a shame! but thats life.
theres been alot of drama out here recently! some friends having hard times with different things, i also had alot of trouble with my landlord trying to fine me like 5000 dollars for moving out before my lease was up but luckily that got sorted out!
im heading back to koh tao on my way back to england which should be sick! conor and lisa are guna be out there for a bit so im really looking forward to seeing them but im not entirely sure who else is still living out there but none the less its guna be great to get back in the water with the bull sharks and also get some more muay thai under my belt before coming home in july.
im heading to plymouth in september for uni which im really looking forward too, its guna be so much easier to study in a country i understand and where i can get my weekly shopping done in less than.. .well.. a whole day lol. its so hard to get around here!
im looking forward to seeing everyone back home so much! i feel like i lost touch with so many people but its also hard to just keep in touch through online messages with people but everyones doing there best. just sat here thinking.. july 22nd, 4 candles, ruddles. yes. lol
i better go because i have an exam in 40 minutes...

Hey all,
been a while again since the last post so i do apologise massively! just been settling in to australian life. i recently rented a house with a friend from koh tao (Tom) whos also an instructor, its a pretty sweet house, its ment for 7 people but right now its just me and him, and its a 10 min cycle from campus so its easy as anything to get around.
Me tom ross and steve all became pretty tight friends and go out alot. during O week we went to the riverside tavern where ross has now smashed not 1 but 2 of my beer glasses. outrageous.
there have been many drinking fiasco's over the last few weeks pretty much all surmounting in someone we know sending a "drunk text" to someone of the opposite gender. we now refer to this as doing a ross.... go figure. lol.
i introduced the game of shazam out here and so now everyone plays that. steve nailed ross for pointing out some random girl had rather large boobs, so fair play to ross he went and told her exactly that.. and miraculously didnt get slapped.
we bought bikes to cycle around on and i dont know whats wrong with australian bikes but the handle bars keep falling off, which isnt fun on a round about.
oh and pretty much ever animal in this country wants to kill you! tom was viciously attacked by a bird ahaha.
its been pretty difficult to find diving work around here, it doesnt fit well around a full week of lectures, but im trying to get something on a weekend live aboard boat, but its not looking too likely, so it could be a case of working in donut king for a year BAD TIMES. oh well.
we had our first rugby training session for the fisher sheild (which is an inter-college cup at jcu) it was really good fun, about a quarter of the people had never seen a rugby ball and called rucks scrums lol. but it was a great laugh. although i got my hand stood on and dislocated some fingers.. again =/
sorry that my keeping in touch is completely speradic and poor but ill try and get into a routine!!!
me and tom kitted out the house with 1.4 meter lava lamps and massive bean bags, and a £150 bass sound system, so thats all pretty sweeeeeeet. acceept thats what we spent all our money on so now we just live of ham and cheese toasties.. good times.
anyway, i miss you all so much, hit me up!
big love

what is up! im do apologise for the 2 week break from blogging, but alot has happened in that time so it could be a long one.
since finishing my MSDT i started to relax a little bit, lisa came back to the island and poppy and mike moved into my house, so we all had some crazy good times including that tragic night in fish bowl where my jeans got properly ripped open and im pretty sure all the staff at bans saw my junk - lol.
i wanted to get some work in as an instructor before i left, so i did an open water and advanced course with two instructors called guy and bex, lisa was also assisting. we had the funniest group of students iv ever met in my life , 2 danish guys, an australian couple, 2 english and an argentine who all went on to advanced. they were fucking hilarious. we had some amazing dives with them , one particularly memorable one when we were on chumpon pinnacle, and i went to my regular shark spotting place and could see any (which i was pissed off about) then just as we were starting to swim off to look somewhere else lisa saw one in the distance, and we followed it to find 2 more, it was awesome, all the students got a proper good look at the bull sharks.
the last dive of the advanced course was highly traumatic to say the least. we dived a site called green rock which is a nesting ground for titan trigger fish (which are mean mo'fo's) there more scary than the sharks and im not even joking... in addition it was there mating season. the dive boat didnt want to go there but under pressure from a "senior instructor" we went there. there was a strong currrent and bad vivsibility and i was taking 2 students round the side of the rock, i was busy watching them instead of where i was going because i didnt want to lose them in the vis, then i swam into a trigger fish haha, it went mental, slammed into my mask and chased us 3 for almost a minute, the poor girl i was leading thought it had given up and stopped swimming while it was right behind her! luckily nobody was actually hurt but when we got back on the boat a fair few dives had bit holes in there fins... unpleasent.
back on shore was great, we signed them off and everything then went for a few heavy beers in the bar. fortunately it was open mic night, and these students of ours were ratassed to say the least, mel, the australian girl went up and sang genuinely well, then tor one of the danish pair did the single most amazing rendition of "fuck her gently" by tenacious D, whilst strumming a non chorded guitar - legend. that was a very dirty night on koh tao hahaha. as barney from how i met your mother would say "best night ever"
i was coming to the end of my stay on koh tao which made me sad, and i lost an extra day there because i screwed up my own flight times. so to celebrate the fact that i was going somewhere, i with the help of poppy and lisa, organised a boat trip to dive with the bull sharks at sunset while they would be out feeding .. everyone at bans thought we were mental so only 4 of us actually went diving in the end! that was sick though, speed boat out to the pinnacle, in the water fast as hell, then we hit about 20m , and saw no sharks.... which was odd, and then we looked up haha, there were loads of sharks just swimming right about our heads, there was one big bull shark below us, but it was such an amazing experience, on that dive we didnt actually see them eat anything which was unfortunate, but there were some heart in mouth moments when they swam straight at us, after the sun went down and the water turned to darkness we stuck right to the pinnacle and the sharks seemed to dissappear into the depths to sleep or whatever they do, so we went back to the boat - amazing dive.
i was riding my bike home and some fucking retarded guy ran across the street infront of my and smacked me straigh off it, this was practically on my last day, fuck knows how but i came of with literally no injuries at all, i pretty much landed on my feet, but the whole left side of the bike was more bent than gary glitter, the foot peg and the gears were bent into the engine and i was like ... oh fuck man, that guna cost me a bomb. luckily mike (bless his heart) knew a guy who owns a bike shop and they managed to fix it for free! good times.. that bring my grand total of koh tao bike crashes up to 3. bad times.
my last night was really fun, got to say proper good byes to everyone, it was really nice. that just left my final morning to sit around with the people closest to me on the island which was really important. then just really really heart felt good byes. kinda walk down the pier moment and dont look back because it would totally kill you =/ that was a long ferry ride away from paradise.
i stayed in a reasonable place in samui, it was in a terrible area though , couldnt do any shopping without getting molested my ladies of the night haha, bad times. ended up having dinner with an abnoxious english man from london, and a really nice dutch police officer who was also a travel writer, so between them i heard some very intresting stories!
the next day i flew from samui - bangkok, bangkok - sydney, sydney- brisbane, brisbane-townsville. long fucking day. when i arrived in townsville, everyone was fucking closed so i couldnt even get a feed, my laptop was dead cos i had no ozzy adapter, payphones wernt accessible and my thai phone ran out of credit. i got to my room in halls and there really really "basic" shall we say. so im moving out into a student house in the town over the next few days. so the first night here was horrible i genuinely for the first time every just wished that i was going to uni in london or something homely and simple like that. the next days got better though, met some really really nice people , mostly all americans because the australian students havnt really arrived yet, so the people here are quite nice, went out with 2 guys called ross and steve yesterday which was good banter, the clubs here are ok, pretty similar to oxford actually, accept townsville seems to be a bit of a military base so some of the "dudes" in the clubs are total cockfags.
anyways, going house hunting tomorrow and hopefully can sort something out.
i do apologise to everyone individually that i havnt sent half as many emails out as i wanted too, but basically my dell got totally fudged in thailand so it takes me about 45 minutes to write a facebook message.. one letter at a time, so its quite painful. hopefully ill get this shit fix rapido though.
anyways, i truely miss everyone back home, and everyone on koh tao.

long time no writing - sorry.
i finished my instructor exams, and i did quite well in comparison to what i thought i would do, it was 3 days of solid exams, 1st day all written , second and third day all practicals, but i got over 92% on everything so it wasnt to difficult in the end. once we qualified we all had a big party starting at about 10am the day we finished...so by about 3pm we were all pass out drunk on the beach so we never ended up having a "night out".
we had a few days of then started the MSDT program, which is like a higher level of instructing, that was really easy all went really well. we got to dive with underwater propulsion scooter thingys, which was awesome, there pretty fast and save your legs, we went down to chumpon pinnacle and jetted around with the bull sharks for ages. managed to find the big daddy shark which is about 3m long, and fat. then we finally after so many dives got to see them feeding, this bull shark just absolutely nails this fish out of the blue, it was sick, but then it turned and started coming at me and my dive buddy, so we were out of there pretty fast, it was fucking terrifying.
unfortunately the day after that i ate something real bad and came down with food poisoning which totally crippled me so i had to spend a night in thai hospital on a drip, which was a horrible horrible experience. luckily im fine now though.
the final day of the MSDT involved doing a deep wreck dive on an old ship called the unicorn, it was sunk off koh tao as an insurance scam, the crew claimed it was carrying expensive cargo but when the wreck got checked out the only thing found on it was dog biscuits. anyway, that wreck sits and about 45 meters and we went to it of a technical diving boat, so all the guys who work on that boat are the bat shit crazy cave diving type who strap on about 7 tanks and swim into a cave towing a peice of string on a reel to guide there was out. nutters. fortunately we wernt going inside the wreck, the visibility was only about 2 meters down that deep so we were pretty limited on what we could do. it was a good set of dives though. got totally done by nitrogen narcosis on the first dive and i was just starting at the ship like "woooooowwwww" haha.
now the MSDT is done, there was a big night out last night because a few people are leaving over the next few days, including my house mate, owen. but apparts from that theres not alot going on on the island. might go diving tomorrow but i cant really decide. anyway hope everyone is well.

19.
hey everyone.
sorry its been a while since i wrote, basically my instructor course has been coming to and end so ive been working solid all the time. i havnt even been diving properly since my last post because we've been doing so much work in the classroom. yesterday i had my 6 written instructor exams.... on my friggin birthday =/ but it was ok, passed all of them. today i have my presentation exam where i have to give a mini lecture on diving, then i have an open water teaching exam, basically, alot of exams, and even more tomorrow. so its stressful times but if i pass these next 2 days then im officially and instructor and you can all meet me in australia and ill teach you how to dive haha. in other island related news - my wonderful house mate owen returned from a night out with a vicious story. he was in one of the big bars on the island, which just happens to be a mafia bar. and some white guy walks into him, so he pushes him, without realising this guy is mafia (probably there only white member but still) and literally turned around to see loads of thai guys and 3 of them showing guns and him.. then the guy said "your a decent guy, but remember i could make you disappear and no one would ever know about it" ............ fuck going to that bar ever again.
in other news my house is a mess because one of our dogs got in last night and fucking destroyed everything. i wouldnt say im missing home at all but yesterday made me really miss my mates.
over the next couple days after exams finish some of us are guna get a kayak and try and get around the whole island in a day.. obvious with beer and shit as supplies.
last time i was here we found an area of a small bay where baby blacktip reef sharks live, so were guna go down there and play with those guys, there tiny only about a meter long in total.
hope everyones well!

incredible..
its been a few days since my last post so i hope everyone back home is doing well. over the last few days ive been basically rinsed all the time because the people i mostly live with work for another dive centre lol, but i still go to there dive bar wearing my ban;s diving shirts... good times all round. anyway, ive been rushed of my feet doing my instructor training and yesterday we had our first hardcore exams, 7 divemaster exams in the morning, a few hours of in water assesment, then a standards exam, it was an intense day but everyone passed easily so we all got a day of today, and are now all assistant instructors, just 2 more weeks of the course left. today was a day off but the idc instructors told us to stay in the classroom and do exams, everyone stayed accept me and one other candidate, we were like, fuck that, and got on the diveboat to go for a normal fucking dive. best descision i ever made.
the sea was rough as fuck, rain was pelting the boat, but me and my mate connor got our gear on and jumped off the boat before it moored on the bouyline, so we could be in the water first, did a free decent to 20m where we saw a huge bull shark swimming in the distance, we were about to follow it but.... this emormous whale shark (about 5 meters long) cruised into site, i could barely breathe it was the most awesome thing i ever saw in my life. because of the weather the current was bad but we had compasses so we went away from the dive site into the open blue, we found 9 bullsharks together circuling a bait ball of fish, then the whale shark swam past again.... 9 bull sharks and a whale shark in the same feild of veiw.. breath taking. the dive went on and we saw about 20 bull sharks in total, got back to the boat and everyone was just pumped. great atmosphere. just got back now, cant wait to go gloat to everyone... muahaha. anyway i dont have long i have work to do for tomorrow :<
big love to people back home.
